stefa oil seals skillful manufacture

Oil Seals used on Tecumseh engines are available in a wide range of sizes depending on the engine model. The primary purpose of the oil seal is to prevent the engine oil from leaking out around the ends of the crankshaft. There are usually two oil seals located on Tecumseh engine models. stefa oil seals skillful manufacture. The PTO (power take off) side seal that is on the end of the crankshaft which
attaches to the equipment; and the magneto side seal which is on the end of the crankshaft that attaches to the flywheel. These seals are also referred to as crankcase seals or crankshaft seals.
Special tools are available that aide in the removal and installation of oil seals. These tools can also help prevent damage to the seals during installation.
Installing a Shaft Oil Seal
Use the steps below to install the shaft seal
Preparing the Shaft
1.Remove the shaft key.ring seal
2.Remove the rubber flinger that encircles the shaft in the frontflange casting.
3.Remove any dirt or grease from the motor shaft and the areaaround the front endbell near the bearing.
4.Remove any nicks or burrs from the motor shaft using an emery cloth (or equivalent).
5.Apply a thin layer of light oil lubricant to the inner and outer lip of the seal.
Installing the Oil Seal
1.Position the oil seal so that the sealing lip faces outward on the shaft.stefa oil seals skillful manufacture.
2.Using the proper installation tool, slide the oil seal on the motor shaft until the outer diameter of the oil seal is flush with the front surface of the motor.car seal
Important:
Do not hammer directly on the oil seal. Apply force evenly around the outer edge with a soft face tool, arbor press, or soft wooden workpiece.Refer to Figure 2 for examples of proper
installation methods.
Important:
Painting the oil seal lip or motor shaft can decrease the life of the shaft seal. Attaching the Adhesive Option Label
1.Before attaching the option label, remove any dirt or grease from the surface of the motor.silicon seal.
2.Remove the paper backing and attach the option label to the side of the motor opposite the data nameplate. This label notifies future service technicians that a shaft seal option has been installed on the motor.stefa oil seals skillful manufacture.
