Affordable ngk oil seals Beautiful in Colors. How to Seal an Engine Oil Leak .In an automobile’s engine, the gasket in between the vehicle’s oil pan and engine block prevents the engine from leaking oil. After extensive use, however, this gasket can degrade and allow oil to leak from the vehicle. Luckily, your old gasket can be removed and replaced in a matter of minutes, allowing you to get your car back on the road without fear of it running low on oil.
Instructions
Park the vehicle on a flat, even surface and engage the vehicle’s emergency brake. Place the wheel blocks behind each of the vehicle’s wheels.
Place the jack beneath the vehicle’s reinforced jack plate and jack the vehicle into the air. Place the jack stands beneath the vehicle and lower the vehicle onto them.
Locate the vehicle’s oil pan. Position the oil change container beneath the oil draining valve and remove the oil draining valve with an appropriately sized wrench. Let the oil drain completely before moving on to Step 5.Affordable ngk oil seals Beautiful in Colors.
Remove the washer from the oil draining valve cover and replace it with a new one.
Remove the bolts holding the oil pan in place. Detach any other parts of the vehicle assembly that may be attached to the oil pan. See the vehicle’s owner’s manual for the oil pan’s exact location, the amount of bolts holding it in place and anything else that must be removed when removing the oil pan.
Tap the side of the oil pan with the rubber mallet to knock it loose. Do not tap the oil pan hard enough to dent it as this could cause problems when attempting to remount the oil pan.Affordable ngk oil seals Beautiful in Colors.
Scrape the old gasket off of the oil pan with a putty knife. Clean any residue left behind be old gasket on both the oil pan and its mounting location with a cloth and solvent cleaner.
Place the new gasket around the edge of the oil pan. Seal it there per the instructions that came with the gasket (some gaskets require grease, while others require special sealants). Reattach the oil pan to the bottom of the engine block with the bolts you removed in Step 5 starting with the center bolts and working your way outward. Use a torque wrench to torque the bolts to the specifications outlined in the vehicle’s owner’s manual.
Refill the vehicle with the appropriate amount of oil per the vehicle’s owner’s manual. Start the vehicle and check it for any leaks.Affordable ngk oil seals Beautiful in Colors.
