silicone rubber oil seals OEM

Silicone rubber oil seals OEM.I have attached a photo of the piece of alloy I found, placed on top of the destroyed housing cap thing. Maybe that's not even where it goes but it certainly seemed that if complete, it would fit right around that place where I think the plastic bit connects up! Anyone with knowledge who can weigh in on this and whether the piece could be off the car, would be much appreciated. I have written to Ford and they wrote back that they could only discuss it with the owner, due to data protection, and so hopefully that conversation can happen soon. Maybe there is even a manufacturing fault that they are aware of. But in the meantime I wanted to try to get as much info as possible! Especially because I may not get to be in on that conversation, so want to supply the owner with all that I can find out! Silicone rubber oil seals OEM.
Hours of research later, I found information on one of these forums (relating to the specific year, make and model in question) about how if the oil cap is over-tightened, it can cause the pan to get a hairline crack which then over the course of the engine heating up a lot then cooling down, as it would do after several days of long journeys, could actually cause something to shatter off the connection between the oil filter cap and the engine, causing the oil to dump out very fast with potential of frying the motor. Armed with this info, I went out in to the street to search and found a piece of metal alloy right in the spot where we'd parked, and that looked just like something off a car engine!Silicone rubber oil seals OEM.

When we returned to the service centre, I got a look at the oil filter cap that had been taken off, and I swear this piece seemed to fit. It looks very much like it could be a piece of the gasket in the images that were posted on this page (thanks, I had been searching for days). The guys at the service centre where the breakdown happened, looked at the piece and thought my theory was reasonable. They have no vested interest in this as the car was going to be towed back to where the owners live for repairs anyway (their costs having been covered by the ADAC, Europe equivalent of AAA) and so they had no reason either to lie or humour me.Silicone rubber oil seals OEM.
